How to get from Santander airport to the city by transport

Santander Airport (SDR) is an international airport in the immediate vicinity of a city in Spain in the province of Cantabria. Since 2012, this airport has reduced the number of passengers and companies. The airport is known among Spaniards after the famous Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros.

The bus served by the ALSA bus service runs every 30 minutes from the airport to the main bus station in Santander.

The first bus leaves at 6:40, and the last at 23:00

The price of a one-way bus ticket is 2.90 euros, and you can buy it directly from the driver

Journey lasts 15 minutes

Ordering a taxi is a good option if you have a lot of luggage, and official airport taxis are always waiting for you. The approximate price of a taxi is 15-18 euros, depending on the time of day.

If you need a direct trip to your accommodation, you should order a door-to-door transfer. The driver will be waiting for you.

Renting a car at the airport is very simple, as there are several car rental companies such as Budget, Europcar and Enterprise. In addition, you can always order it online.

If you are traveling in a larger group, you may consider renting a bus for your arrival. Thus, the rental agency organizes everything (landing at the airport, etc.).

The bus line is served by ALSA and runs 5 times a day from the airport to the airport.

The first bus (at 12:25) is direct, and the journey lasts 1:05 h. The cost of one ticket is 12.45 €

Other buses are not direct, the journey lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes, and a one way ticket — 6,64 €

From SDR to San Sebastián: Another popular bus line directly from the airport to San Sebastián, it runs once a day at 6:50 pm, and a one-way ticket costs € 13.47.

  • Q: I arrived at the airport late. Is it difficult to get to the city?

Answer: Although the buses often run during the day, the last one departs at 23:00, it’s early, so you may have to take a taxi.

  • Q: I have an early morning flight from the airport, are there any hotels at the airport where I can stay?

A: Unfortunately, there are no hotels nearby, but the closest is 4 kilometers from the airport: Hotel Las Anclas (2 *) — offers free Wi-Fi and breakfast.

  • Q: I would like to spend one day in Santander between flights. Is it possible

O, sure. The best option is to take a local bus that takes you to the bus station. At the airport there is no luggage storage, but it is at the bus station.

  • Question: I continue my journey outside Santander. Are there cheap bus routes from the airport to other cities?

A: In addition to the aforementioned San Sebastián and Bilbao, you can directly get from the airport to Gijón for € 15.10 or Oviedo for € 13.28.

  • Q: Can I exchange money at the airport?

A: Yes, there are a couple of ATMs located on the ground floor / waiting room (Caja Cantabria, Santander). There is no exchange office at the airport, but there is a local bank office where you can exchange your money.
