Rotterdam-The Hague Airport (RTM) is an international airport serving the cities of Rotterdam and The Hague and their suburbs. The airport is located 5.6 kilometers from the center of Rotterdam. According to statistics, last year Rotterdam Airport handled almost 1.7 million passengers, making it the third largest airport in the Netherlands. The airport mainly serves as a base for low-cost companies such as Dutch Transavia and Vueling.
In Rotterdam: There is only one option to get to the center of Rotterdam (Rotterdam Central Station) by public transport — on bus line 33. Buses are operated by the RET bus company.
The first bus leaves from the airport at 06:00, and the last — at 00:16. The bus is often during the day and every 10-15 minutes. One ticket costs 3 € (one hour), you can buy it directly from the driver or from the ticket machine. Journey to the main railway station Rotterdam Central lasts about 20 minutes
To The Hague: As we have already mentioned, the airport also serves The Hague, but to get to it, you will need to take the bus line 33 to Meyersplein-Metro (in the opposite direction from Rotterdam).
As soon as you get to the metro station, go in line E (Randstadrail) to the main street of The Hague. Traveling by bus lasts 7 minutes, and on the subway about 25 minutes. To get to your destination is enough for one hour (3 euros). If you need more time, you can buy a 2-hour ticket, which will cost you 3.50 euros.
If you are not a supporter of public transport or are late to the airport, you can always call official taxis, which are at the disposal of passengers around the clock and seven days a week. The average cost of a taxi to the center of Rotterdam varies from 20 to 25 euros, and a trip to The Hague will cost you 55 euros.
A private transfer will probably cost you the same as a taxi, but this is a more reliable option because it can take you directly to your property. But be sure to order online in advance.
Rent a car directly at the airport in one of the offices of rental companies such as Avis, Europcar, Sixt, etc. However, the best way to rent a car is to do it online.
If you are traveling in a large group, you should consider renting a bus before you arrive so that the rental agency can prepare all the details.
The best way to get to Amsterdam is to get to the first Rotterdam center and take a direct intercity train to Amsterdam. The journey lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The price of one ticket is 14.50 euro.
