The main temple and the whole complex is named after the patriarch of Thailand, the venerable Janasangwon. The construction of his residence ended in 1976. Since then, the territory of Wat Yang has expanded significantly, thanks to the patronage of the monarch. Golden statues of Rama VII and Princess Sinakharinthra cast in full growth became a sign of respect and gratitude to the royal family.

The white cone of the sanctuary differs from the traditional temples of Pattaya in height and innovative elements of architecture.

To see it, you have to pay 50 baht and overcome 300 steps, in the process getting rid of the negative. Thais also worship another local shrine: a stupa with the relics of the Buddha.

Viharnra Sin — «the abode of the gods»

This colorful architectural ensemble, built in 1988, was a gift from China to the royal dynasty. It combines the functions of a religious building with a museum.

The temple is guarded by statues of armed warriors in a variety of equipment. Dragons and mythical monsters keep their eyes on the roofs. Elegant multi-colored buildings of Chinese style have no analogues in the country.

The museum presents a collection of national artifacts, images of Chinese rulers, cavalry warriors, revered deities and gifts presented to the king. A picturesque group of warriors forever froze on the balcony.

Wat Sattahip

In antiquity, not one of the temples in Pattaya can compete with the cult building erected in 1899 during the reign of Rama V. Wat Sattahip has a second name — Wat Luang Pho I. This is the name of a talented monk who created a construction project with a kind of architecture.

The building was designed so that parishioners would come in from the street, and exit through the door leading to the shore of the Gulf of Siam. In the temple there is a monk life-size statue, cast at the expense of admirers of Luang Pho. He helped many parishioners and left a good memory of himself.

Wat Sattahip is located in the same area. A small elegant building attracts with its originality. On its territory there are traditional Buddhist stupas and several pagodas in which monks live.

Big buddha

The popular temple attracts travelers with the famous 15 m high statue of the Big Buddha. The width of the giant gilded statue, installed in 1977, is about 10 m. It was created with funds raised by the monks.

The place to install the shrine chose the highest hill — 140 m above sea level. It is called Big Buddha Hill. The inhabitants of Pattaya are proud of the temple complex and often visit it.

At the top of the hill is a staircase of 120 steps. According to legend, they should be considered when lifting. He who does not fail will have a pure aura. The rise on both sides guards the seven-headed golden-naked snakes.

To get to the altar of the Buddha, it is customary to receive blessings and charm from a monk in the lower temple. At the entrance leave a white envelope, putting in it 20 baht. Having conquered the Big Buddha Hill, visitors enter another temple for ritual purification. Leaving a small donation, you can make a cherished desire.

At the altar of the Big Buddha, believers light candles and say prayers. The main statue is surrounded by 10 Buddha statues in different incarnations and poses.

Some are responsible for certain days of the week, others for welfare and other needs. Favorite entertainment of tourists is to throw a coin into the belly of a figure that brings wealth.

To get rid of diseases and purify karma, it is recommended to strike the bells with the sacred mantras with a stick. They hang near the stairs. Another option is to buy a cage with birds and set them free.

From the observation platform of Mount Pratamnak, where the highest point of Pattaya is located, the whole city is visible. In the evening, the illuminated temple complex looks like a vision from an oriental tale.

The Temple of Truth or the unfinished masterpiece

The history of this temple resembles the epic of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. A gigantic structure, designed to tell about the varieties of Eastern religion, has been built since 1981. The author of the idea and the main sponsor was Lek Viriapan, a Thai businessman who wanted to acquaint everyone with the philosophical revelations of Buddhism. In 2000, he passed away, and The Sanctuary of Truth is not yet complete.

This is one of the most interesting temples of Pattaya. All the construction and intricate finishes are made of precious wood. Skilful carved ornaments frame the interior with figures of saints and mythical characters.

The temple strikes with fantastic outlines and a colossal scale: its height and width exceed 100 m. It is considered the largest wooden church of the city and the whole country. The architecture of Wang Boran is a blend of Indian, Khmer, Thai and Chinese styles.
