Wheel of the Year: Samhain Festival October 31
In the Celtic circle of annual holidays, the Day of the Dead, otherwise called Samhain, has a special meaning. On this day, otherworldly energy is particularly strong and can affect people’s lives. Find out what benefits Samhain brings, and what better to fear on this holiday.
Samhain is one of the four holidays of the Wheel of the Year. It is celebrated on the night of October 31 to November 1. This night and both days (the eve and the day itself) have tremendous power, which is able to cleanse a person’s life from any adversity and grief, if you interact with it correctly.
Some consider Samhain to be the equivalent of Halloween. Although these holidays have common roots, they differ in their method of celebration and atmosphere.
What is the Wheel of the Year
The Wheel of the Year is a cycle of holidays for the Celtic and Scottish peoples. It starts its winter Yule — a certain analogue of our New Year. After Yule follows Imbolc, celebrating in February.
Spring begins Ostara — a holiday of renewal and the birth of life.
The Belteyn Wheel, celebrated in May, continues the cycle. This is followed by Lita, the summer solstice festival, and after it, the Lammas harvest festival.
Autumn opens Mabon — the day of harvest and change, softer than Samhain, but having the same energy message. And, finally, closes the Wheel of the Year Samhain — a celebration of the memory of the dead.
How to celebrate Samhain
This holiday of peace, silence and solitude with your thoughts. On the night of Samhain, everyone will be able to look inside himself and see all that prevents him from moving on and meet every day with a smile. A good way to do this is meditation, which will help focus your attention on the right things.
Practitioners and esoterics on the night of October 31 to November 1, often hold seances. It is believed that the line between the world of the living and the world of the dead on this night is so thin that even the most ordinary person, not endowed with any extrasensory abilities, can feel the presence of spirits and even see them. Therefore, psychics advise people who do not want to experience such shocks not to light candles, not to sit for a long time in front of the mirrors and not to leave the house alone.
If you want to honor the memory of ancestors, or you want to “pass on the news” to a dear person who has died, you can easily do it.
A letter to another world
This practice is very common, and many do not even realize that initially writing and «sending» letters to dead relatives was trusted only to priests, shamans and clergymen. Fortunately, nowadays this can be done by anyone.
To communicate with the dead, you will need:
- a pen;
- white candle in a candlestick;
- small plate;
- photo of the person to whom the letter is addressed.
To begin, stay alone, curtain mirrors and tune in to the conversation. Imagine that this night is an opportunity to really talk to a departed person and tell him something that you did not have time before. Gather your thoughts and put them in a letter. It can be long, and it can fit in a couple of lines — this is not so important.
The main thing is that the words come from the heart and be sincere.
After you have finished the letter, sit in silence for a bit, imagining in detail the addressee and recalling it in life. Collect all your feelings for him and mentally put in a piece of paper lying in front of you. Focus will help you a photo of the deceased.
Light a candle and burn a letter along with a photograph in its flame, imagining how it appears in the hands of the deceased. It is believed that fire is the purest element capable of transmitting energy across the border of the world of the living and the world of the dead. After the letter and photo are burned in a flame, take a plate with ashes, open the window and develop the ashes in the wind, calling the name of the departed person.
Let the candle burn out. Perhaps, after “sending” the letter, an image of a deceased person will appear in your head: do not be alarmed This means that your energy is strong enough to feel the energy of another world.
If you do not feel fear, you can, looking at the flame of a candle, mentally call the addressee of the letter and immerse yourself in a meditation-conversation with the dead.
Samhain is a celebration of silence, letting go of the past, obsolete and unnecessary. On this day, you need to especially watch what you say and think, because the energy of this holiday can affect your life even because of one careless word.
Try to be attentive and respectful to all those around you, to give care and joy to your loved ones, loved ones and friends, and then everything will be in order. We wish you a mysterious Samhain, good luck in everything, and do not forget to press buttons and
