Vasilisa Volodina told about the history of the holiday of March 8
On the eve of International Women’s Day, popular astrologer Vasilisa Volodina told about the history of the holiday on March 8. Currently, not everyone knows how and where the idea to celebrate March 8 as an international women’s day came from. We know from the history school course that this holiday has arisen in connection with the struggle of women for gender equality.
According to Vasilisa Volodina, women gathered for the first time to discuss the topic of equality on March 8 in New York. It was the distant year of 1857, when women’s labor was practically not paid, while they worked on a par with men. For example, there is still evidence that in the 19th century a woman for 16 hours of work received only of what they would have paid for a man.
At this meeting, women put the authorities to the requirement that their working day should last no more than 10 hours, and the salary should be charged one at a time with men.
The history of the holiday on March 8 has more than 100 years. Practically each of us heard the name of the famous Clara Zetkin, who at one of the international meetings put forward the idea to celebrate March 8 as a women’s day in all countries. According to Vasilisa Volodina, not all states supported the Zetkin initiative, but since 1911, the March 8 holiday has been celebrated in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Currently, March 8 is celebrated in almost all countries of the former Soviet Union.
In some of them, after the collapse of the USSR, on March 8, I changed my name to Mother’s Day and the day of motherhood and beauty.
In Russia, the history of the holiday of March 8 also has political overtones, since on this day in 1917, Emperor Nicholas II announced the abdication of the rights to the throne, and women received the right to participate in electoral voting. Of course, nowadays few people think about it. All men want to congratulate their beloved mothers, wives, daughters and sisters on March 8, perceiving this day as the arrival of spring.
Now the holiday of March 8 is a symbol of beauty and femininity.
On international women’s day, it is customary to give small souvenirs and flowers. It is a bouquet of flowers in our time is one of the most common gifts for March 8. Since this day is the first spring holiday, according to Vasilisa Volodina, it symbolically combines as many as two wonderful events: the women’s day and the holiday of the arrival of spring.
In turn, we want to congratulate the beautiful half of humanity on this wonderful holiday. Always stay beautiful and make us smile! Be happy and do not forget to press and
