Feast of the Holy Trinity June 19

The Holy Trinity is the most important Orthodox holiday of the beginning of the summer season. It is of great importance for every Christian and requires the observance of certain ecclesial customs.

Many traditions are connected with the holiday of the Holy Trinity. They say that earlier in Russia it was customary to guess at the Trinity, so we collected for you Trinity folk divinations. celebration will be held June 19.

history of the holiday

When Jesus Christ rose from the dead, he stayed with his disciples for 40 whole days. It was from here, by the way, that the ecclesiastical belief that people after their death are next to their loved ones for the next 40 days, after which they go to Heaven on their last journey, went.

After the Savior’s 40-day stay in the flesh on Earth, he also went to another world to share heavenly rule with God the Father and the Holy Spirit — this is the feast of the Ascension of the Lord. The feast of the Trinity symbolizes the process of the formation of a higher authority in the person of the triune Lord.

On Sunday, June 19, on the 50th day after the physical death of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit descended on Earth to illuminate the minds of disciples loyal to the Savior. As the biblical story goes, the apostles were in Zion Hornice, together with the Virgin Mary, when they heard the sound of a strong wind that filled their souls with knowledge of different languages. From that moment on, they began to carry their faith and knowledge to different nations. Jesus Christ kept his promise.

The spirit descended and illumined their souls with their power. This is the beginning of the post-biblical history of Christianity, when mass persecutions begin throughout the world and the faith of a small handful of people turns into an entire era, called an era after the birth of Christ.

Celebration June 19th

According to the rules, all believers must visit the temple of God to pay homage to God. The church prays for the Holy Spirit to descend upon all believers just as it did upon the disciples of Jesus on that very day more than 2,000 years ago. This is one of the 12 major Orthodox holidays, so the importance of attending the liturgy is obvious.

By tradition, Orthodox Christians decorate their homes with flowers and birch branches. This is an ancient custom that came to us from the very beginnings of the faith. Thus, the Trinity is a celebration of faith and the memory that our life is inextricably linked with Heaven.

If you do not have time to visit the temple, then read on June 19 at home a small prayer dedicated to this day:

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Bezmortorny, have mercy on us (three times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever.
Holy Trinity, have mercy on us;
O Lord, cleanse our sins;
Master, forgive our iniquities;
Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, in thy name’s sake.
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and dawn, and forever and ever. Amen.

This prayer text can be read every day, but on the feast of the Trinity, time will be the most appropriate. This prayer helps us, saving us from trouble and leading us to the attainment of the true power and grace of God in our deeds and thoughts. Read it at night and in the morning to spend every day under the cover of the Holy Trinity, so that at night your soul and body are under reliable protection.

Do not forget to also remember on June 19 all those close to you who have already departed to another world. This is usually done on the Saturday before the Trinity, but the rules do not prohibit praying for the dead and on Sunday. On Saturday, called the Ecumenical, it is customary to visit cemeteries and clean up the burial sites, putting them in order and giving them an acceptable appearance.

Pay tribute to everyone you loved and loved you. Let your memory be the best reward for the departed and those who have found peace in the souls.

Holy Saturday is very important because it is an independent holiday, having its own traditions, signs and customs. Churchmen advise with great respect and attention to treat the holiday of the Trinity, to the memorial Saturday and all the established rules. May this resurrection lead you only to light, love and understanding.

The divine plan is simple — it is harmony between people and mutual understanding. Be happy and do not forget to press the buttons and
