Ayurveda — the pledge of your happy and healthy life

Every person has probably heard about the concept of “ayurveda” or “ayurvedic” today. But not everyone knows what really hides behind this mysterious word, to what area does Ayurveda relate — to magic or science, and why it is needed at all.

Let’s try to deal with all these issues in this material.

What is Ayurveda and what is its main meaning

Historical background of ayurveda

Ayurveda is the oldest science about a healthy and fulfilling life, the main factor of which is well-being and harmony between the body, the senses and the movement, as well as the mind and soul. It originated in about 1000 BC.

Representing a very old medical system, Ayurveda has greatly influenced Arab and European medicine. After all, even in distant ancient times, plants with healing properties were transported by sea and land routes from India to Parthia, through the Mediterranean states, to Central Asia, through the basins of the Black and Caspian Sea, as well as Southern Siberia and China.

The most popular were backgammon, musk, sandalwood, cinnamon, aloe and other valuable plants with incense.

In the middle of the last century, traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine began to be actively used in Western states, and at the end of the 20th century, it reaches Russia. In America, Ayurveda is taken so seriously that it is even being studied by students of the National Institute of Medicine, and the people of Israel are at Rydman College.

The main Ayurvedic medical manipulations were able to firmly take root in the medical practice of a large part of different states.

Today, according to official information, approximately 350,000 registered doctors use Ayurveda practice.

Ayurveda — what is it?

Translated from Sanskrit, the concept of «Ayurveda» means «science about life and longevity.» But the view that it is only science would be fundamentally wrong.

Ayurveda equally acts as a philosophical movement, a system of medicine, and a way of life. It is believed that it was on the basis of Ayurveda that the Chinese and Tibetan systems of medicine were later invented.

Various ancient sacred texts tell about Ayurveda: Vedas, Mahabharata, Purana, Tantra, Upanishads, Yoga Shastras.

Knowledge of Ayurveda helps without using any complex diagnostic methods to determine the presence of pathology and get rid of it. But this is not the main task of the practice, the main goal is to prevent the disease in a timely manner.

By turning to Ayurveda for help, a person will learn to maintain his health in a harmonious state due to the balance between spiritual and physical, balance between primary elements, tranquility and finding understanding with the surrounding world. So the science says that only through pacification is possible a balance between the physical and the spiritual.

But at the same time, the doctrine is not inclined to impose strict restrictions or impose something on a person, and can only advise how best to maintain their health at the proper level.

In order to prevent ailments, Ayurveda advises to find the causes of pathologies, paying particular attention to the close relationship between negative thoughts and disorders in the body.

It is also necessary to add the fact that, according to this science, a person must take responsibility for their lifestyle and actions that affect the health of the body and spirit.

Five primary elements forming the world

According to Ayurveda, all spiritualized and uninspired objects are subject to certain rules and without fail include five main primary elements, namely:

  • water (jala) — controls all fluids in the body;
  • earth (prithvi) — represented by solid tissues of the body (bones, teeth);
  • ether (akasha) — controls the internal organs and cavities in the body;
  • fire (agni) is all that is responsible for the flow of various processes in the body, their circulation (represented by enzymes that produce the glands of the gastrointestinal tract);
  • air (frond) — its strength is manifested in the general state of health and well-being.

Each of the above elements is represented in the human body in different proportional ratios; there is a constant interaction between all the primary elements. And in the event of an imbalance between even one of the elements, various ailments appear.

Ayurveda describes how to achieve a balance between the existing five principles and prevent the development of pathologies.

Three doshas and three guna in the practice of Ayurveda

The primary elements form three basic energies (differently called doshas):

  • pitta — water with fire;
  • vatu — ether with air;
  • kapha — earth with water.

According to the theory of the three doshas, in the body of every person there is most of any one energy. And find out what you can by analyzing their features physique.

According to Ayurveda, there are 7 constitutional types, namely:

  • pete;
  • cotton wool;
  • kapha;
  • pitu-kapha;
  • pitu-vatu;
  • kapha vatu;
  • Tridoshu — is the most harmonious of all.

Also, an important role in ayurvedic practice is knowledge of the gunas — that is, the energies of the mind, which also greatly affect the person.

  • rajas (also known by the concept of passion) — is manifested by aggression or energy, which “hits the key”;
  • sattva (goodness) — personifies kindness, beauty and mercy;
  • Tamas (ignorance) — has a negative effect on the mind and body: it leads to depression, can lead to laziness and longing, sadness.

Most often, a person in a particular period of time is subject to the influence of one of the three gunas, as a result of which a certain line of behavior takes place, as well as his thoughts, which in turn affects the balance between the primary elements.

How to conduct ayurvedic diagnostics

In this science, quite simple techniques are used by which diseases are established.

Doctors with ayurvedic knowledge, in their practice, resort to such research methods:

  • listening to the pulse;
  • urine diagnosis;
  • compilation of voice and other noise in the body;
  • holistic characteristics of the person;
  • language learning;
  • probing;
  • the study of feces;
  • examination of the state of the eyes.

The methods will not require a large amount of strength and energy, but at the same time, an experienced ayurvedic practitioner can, on their basis, deliver the correct diagnosis to the patient. It is extremely important that in this case the doctor should have sufficient insight, be highly observant and have a very developed intuition.

Natural treatment — the basis of Ayurveda

Ayurveda allows only treatment with the help of natural medicine, represented by metals, plants, stones, minerals, and so on. It is prohibited to use synthetic medicines and vitamin-mineral complexes.

Practitioners of Ayurveda are convinced that a person can maintain their health in perfect condition only at the expense of the resources offered by nature, because it is perfect. And even artificially created drugs correlate with their natural counterparts, but between them there is a significant difference.

So, if a person takes chemicals for a long time, they will be able to harm his body, and as a result, he will need a long-term recovery. And correctly using natural means you can not worry about your health, because they are very similar in structure to the human body.

In addition to natural medicinal therapy, Ayurveda also welcomes special ayurvedic massage, yoga practice, marma therapy (consisting in influencing active points in the body), meditative practices, as well as an individually developed diet.

Practicing Ayurveda you can significantly improve your health, prevent the development of many diseases and will live a healthy, full and happy life.
