Lunch at the office — potato casserole with meat, lamb cutlets, sauerkraut salad, moussaka, fish curry
Meat Potato Casserole (Herding Pie)
Potato casserole is what you need when there is a deep minus outside. For the meat filling, you can take the lean meat, add canned beans, and replace some of the potatoes with vegetables: carrots, broccoli, or leek.
Before you put the casserole in the container, it should be well cooled.
What do you need:
- 500 g low-fat minced meat (chicken, beef)
- 200 g canned red (or white) beans
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 large carrot, grate
- 1-2 stem celery celery, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp. l tomato paste
- 1 tsp worcester sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme (or fresh)
- 250 ml of hot meat broth (or hot water)
- 1 tbsp. l flour
- 900 g of potatoes, arbitrarily cut into small slices
- 3 cloves of garlic, peeled
- 100-150 ml of hot milk
- 25 g butter
- freshly ground black pepper
What to do:
Put the potatoes in a saucepan, add garlic cloves, salt and pour boiling water so that the water covers the potatoes on top of 2-2.5 cm.
Bring the liquid to a boil, cook over low heat until soft for 15-20 minutes.
Preheat a thick-walled wide frying pan, first fry the chopped vegetables (onion, carrot, celery) 2-3 minutes, adding to them a couple of tablespoons of hot water or broth.
Add the mince and stir fry so that there are no lumps.
While the meat is being cooked, add tomato paste to the hot broth. Add beans in mince (pre-drain excess liquid), mix. Dusted with flour, pour in hot broth, add thyme and Worcester sauce.
Stir, salt, pepper and cook for 10-15 minutes.
Mash boiled potatoes in a smooth mash with butter and hot milk (garlic cloves do not throw out).
Salt to taste.
Preheat the grill. In a preheated baking dish lay out meat stew, on top of mashed potatoes. Smooth the surface with a fork.
Bake under the grill until golden brown.
The casserole can also be baked in a preheated oven at 200 ° C for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Mutton cutlets with bacon and butter and vegetable garnish of eggplants, tomatoes and garlic will give strength and warm up at lunchtime even in the most severe cold.

You can also add a warming element to a simple sauerkraut salad by adding hot red pepper on the tip of a knife.
