Flavonoids: why do we need them?

Usually we evaluate the product in terms of its content of vitamins and minerals. But there is a group of substances that are less known, but much more important for us as antioxidants or regulators of enzymes.

These are flavonoids that can only be obtained from plant foods: berries, fruits, vegetables, herbs.

Flavonoids are plant pigments, and their most visible role is to color our crops in bright colors. But if their action was limited to this! In terms of their structure and chemical composition, these substances are similar to hormones, and like hormones, they are involved in almost all the processes that take place in our body.

Well, for example — they regulate the action of various enzymes, including digestive ones. One of the ferments — the kinase, which is responsible for the proliferation of cells — they suppress. And this is very good: this is what makes them an excellent anticancer drug.

And as antioxidants they are 50-100 times more effective than vitamins C and E, they reliably protect us from diseases and from aging.

When do we need vegetable flavonoids?

  • with fatigue and weakness
  • in times of stress
  • in case of any injuries, especially bleeding
  • with increased capillary fragility, problems with pressure, circulatory disorders
  • with inflammatory diseases of the stomach and intestines
  • when changing seasons, especially from heat to cold

Scientists know more than 6500 varieties of bioflavonoids.

But the most important and useful to find very easy.

Its main task is to strengthen the walls of blood vessels. And the main sign of shortage: bruises that appear on the skin even from a minor impact. The vessels of the brain and eyes — also in his custody.

Regular intake of anthocyanin improves vision and increases the efficiency of the brain, prevents the development of stroke.

The richest and most accessible source of antiocyan — blueberries. Doctors advise to eat this berry at least half a cup a day.

And in winter you can eat frozen.

The richest source is green tea.

Polyphenol also strengthens the heart and blood vessels.

It is estimated that people drinking 4 or more cups of green tea per day reduce the risk of stroke by 75% and reduce the risk of a heart attack by half.

Polyphenol is used to treat arthritis and other. "-its" — inflammatory diseases. The same stomatitis — inflammation of the oral mucosa. It is due to the antibacterial properties of polyphenols that green tea is good not only to drink, but also to rinse your mouth and throat.

Teeth without caries, gums without gingivitis, throat without sore throat — effectively and inexpensively!

Most of them are contained in onions, and in red, not white. One bulb per day can dramatically increase the level of quercetin in the body for several hours. This is especially necessary for people with allergies and those who suffer from chronic inflammatory diseases.

Quercetin is perhaps the most powerful antioxidant among bioflavonoids, it actively counteracts cancer cells.

It also prevents the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and thus contributes to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Don’t like onions?

Find quercetin in apples, tomatoes, broccoli, bell peppers, beans, red wine.

One of the closest relatives of quercetin and similar to it in its properties. Another name for this vegetable flavonoid is vitamin R. It is found in citrus fruits. But, unfortunately, not juicy pulp — most of all it is in the peel and white partitions.

So to get vitamin P, you have to eat grapefruits and lemons whole. Or look for rutin in raspberries, blueberries, black currants, apricots, tomatoes, peppers, green lettuce and herbs.

Among the cereals he is in buckwheat.

And also — in coffee and dark chocolate (with a cocoa content of at least 70%).

Vitamin P fights vascular fragility, prevents viruses and bacteria from entering the body, removes heavy metals and toxins.

As a means to improve immunity and prevent early aging, it is indispensable.

With the help of routine, you can get rid of allergic conditions, relieve pain, prevent the development of «frivolous» hemorrhoids, and such terrible diseases as heart attack and stroke.

Bioflavonoids are not formed in the human body, they can only come from the outside. In pharmacies, you can find them in pills, but the fact is that these substances work best in conjunction with their own kind. Such an optimal balance can only be ensured by nature: in some tomato or clove of garlic, healthy flavonoids are contained in that quantity and in the proportion that is digested and helps best.

And this means that it is better to get them from natural products, especially in the very season.

In order to preserve the entire range of nutrients, fruits, vegetables and berries are best not to heat.

Some flavonoids do not tolerate freezing.

In order for bioflavonoids to be well absorbed, you need to drink enough water — at least 1.5 liters per day.

Champion in the maintenance of plant flavonoids — garlic. There are at least 30 different ones in it!

Regular use of garlic prevents the development of heart disease, the appearance of tumors, successfully treats colds and infectious diseases, improves immunity, reduces the level of «bad» cholesterol, regulates pressure.
