We all love when the house is a full bowl.
But not all is useful to have in the bins.
Some products are not worth buying in store.
From childhood we have heard from our mothers and grandmothers that there should always be something to eat in the house.
We read fairy tales where the grandmother and grandfather scrape the bottom of the barrel, talk about the times of shortages and kilometer queues.
However, not every product is worth saving for future use:
1. Spices. We all know about the beneficial properties of spices.
But they lose their qualities when stored longer than normal. We use peppers, turmeric, basil, granulated garlic and dried dill in the kitchen in limited quantities, so buying them not in small bags, and large cans do not make sense.
They will lose their taste, and with it the healing qualities before you have time to spend them.
Spices need to be used within six months, in extreme cases — a year.
Then they lose their smell and color, and hence useful properties.
It is best to store spices in hermetically sealed containers.
Brown rice, which is so useful and so rich in microelements, is stored for a long time due to its high content of natural oils, but does not have an unlimited shelf life.
Do not buy it in bags.
In household use, you have enough and a couple of shopping bags.
It is better to store rice in a container with a tight lid. Shelf life — 18 months. Even if you store rice correctly, still check it from time to time, small bugs may start up in it.
To prevent this from happening, put garlic cloves in the container where the rice is stored.
Of course, coffee beans will not rot, but they will not become better from long-term storage.
Even whole grains lose their taste and aroma after several months of storage in a jar.
If coffee grains have not been roasted, their shelf life is 1 year.
If the beans have been properly processed, the shelf life is increased to 2.5 years. However, the roasted grains easily absorb moisture and odors, so it’s best to store them in vacuum containers.
Ground coffee is also best kept in a tightly closed jar, away from sunlight.
A pack of started coffee is best stored in the refrigerator.
Flour absorbs moisture from the air and literally soak after long storage.
In addition, in it (as in the cereals) parasites can start. Remember, bugs can lay larvae not only in the flour itself, but also in kitchen furniture, and it is extremely difficult to remove them from there.
It is better to protect yourself and not keep the pounds of flour in the boxes.
Overdue yeast is not dangerous to health, but they may simply not raise the dough, and your labors will be wasted.
Consider whether instead of one small jar you need to store a weighty box of yeast in the kitchen if you do not bake it every week.
Nuts Due to the high content of natural oils, nuts can easily become rancid and become not only not tasty, but also harmful to health.
In addition, the nuts are moldy, with a colorless mold with no taste and smell. Regular consumption of fungus-infected nuts can lead to the development of cancer.
Therefore, always look at the shelf life of your favorite almonds, peanuts and cashews.
Baking powder dough.
Unlike baking soda, the baking powder of the dough, if stored in inappropriate conditions, absorbs moisture and, therefore, not only loses its properties, but also becomes a real breeding ground for the reproduction of bacteria.
Like any dairy product, even hard cheese is not stored at home for long.
It is also not recommended to freeze cheese — after it thawing bacteria can form, and the taste of the product will be desired.
When you open a jar with your favorite ketchup and mayonnaise, you should take into account that you shorten the life of the product by several times.
Every day it will be worse and worse, and the microbes in it will multiply more and more.
If you don’t go for mustard for breakfast, lunch and dinner and don’t marinate everything that comes handy, we advise you to carefully buy it in reserve.
Surprisingly, it is also not recommended to buy oils for future use! Store any vegetable oil should be very carefully. It should not come into contact with oxygen, is warm and in light.
In addition, sudden changes in temperature are very harmful to him.
If storage conditions are observed, the oil can stay fresh for a very, very long time.
But it is worth remembering that he, like any other product, has an infinite shelf life.
After opening, any vegetable oil can be consumed within a month.
Olive oil 30 days after opening will be suitable only for frying, and the rest only for cosmetic purposes.
