Body care during pregnancy: the prevention of stretch marks, edema and varicose veins

Body and face care during pregnancy

Pleasant moments of waiting for the birth of a baby can be overshadowed by the changes that occur with a woman’s body. To avoid the appearance of stretch marks, varicose veins, to keep the breasts beautiful and taut will help correct body care during pregnancy.

How to care for skin during pregnancy

Due to changes in the hormonal background, the skin of the face becomes less oily during pregnancy and less comedones are formed. For women who have previously suffered from acne and oily shine on their face, during pregnancy these problems disappear by themselves, there is no urgent need to look after the face. But regular care is still needed.

Carrying out the face care during pregnancy, it is impossible to carry out deep peels and traumatic facial cleansing. Cleansing and peeling of the skin of the face is best done using gentle, soft cosmetic scrubs with particles of wax. Do not use products that contain harsh and traumatic particles (sea salt or nutshell).

Owners of dry skin have more difficulty, as they suffer from peeling and feelings of tightness. To solve the problem more than once a day, they need to apply a moisturizer.

However, we should not forget that in a pregnant woman, the skin becomes more irritable and susceptible to various kinds of allergens. In this connection, it is undesirable to try any new formulations at this moment, it is better to use proven products and brands.

Before applying the caring cream should carefully read the list of ingredients that are in its composition. If there are retinoids among the components (a synthetic analogue of vitamin A), then it is better to refuse such a product, since large doses of this vitamin can harm an unborn child.

During the period of childbirth, it is strictly forbidden to do any injection cosmetology procedures. This applies to mesotherapy, the introduction of botulinum toxin preparations and contour plastics. Such a ban is related to the fact that no clinical trials according to these methods have been carried out in pregnant women. In addition, such procedures are painful, and future moms are very sensitive.

Often, during the period of pregnancy, hyperpigmentation of the skin appears in women, and the question of how to care for the skin of the face becomes particularly relevant. You should not be particularly concerned about this. The fact is that these darkened areas of the dermis 3-4 months after giving birth will pass by themselves. In addition, the use of all sorts of peels, scrubs, lightening lotions can not the best way to affect the skin.

Breast care

From the first days of pregnancy, the body of the future mom begins to produce the hormone cortisol. This component is necessary in order to reduce the contraction of smooth muscle and thereby reduce the chance of miscarriage. But at the same time, this hormone simultaneously suppresses collagen synthesis, the lack of which is manifested by flabbiness of the skin.

Especially exposed to such effects are the mammary glands, which in the first 3 months of pregnancy increase by 1-1.5 size. In addition, this process is accompanied by pain and swelling. Those who are concerned about how to care for their breasts during pregnancy should go to a pharmacy and purchase a remedy for stretch marks.

Any remedy for stretch marks works in the same way: it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which are the most important proteins of the skin, responsible for its strength and elasticity. This cream should be applied 2 times a day to the problem area with massage movements. This should be done in the first three months of pregnancy. Then the procedure should be discontinued.

Choose a product with a light texture. The use of fat creams with a dense texture is desirable to avoid, since they can lead to clogged pores and the appearance of inflammation.

Whenever possible, it is recommended to choose a remedy for the chest with the content of horse chestnut and calendula extracts. Such components well remove the feeling of skin tightness, which during pregnancy becomes an inevitable phenomenon.

Prevention of stretch marks

During this period, skin stretch can be avoided if you follow certain recommendations for body care during pregnancy.

Stretch marks (stretch marks) are usually formed on the abdomen, chest, thighs, that is, in those areas where skin stretching occurs most strongly. It is much easier to prevent the appearance of such pathology than to try to get rid of it later.

For the prevention of stretch marks on those areas where they most often occur, special cosmetics (oils, gels, creams) should be applied. Their composition includes components that stimulate the production of elastin and collagen. You can also use a proven folk remedy — olive oil, which should be applied to the skin. To prevent stretch marks in the abdomen, a contrast shower is useful. In addition, there should be enough protein foods in the daily menu.

Puffiness of the legs and varicose veins

Properly organized body care during pregnancy will help avoid problems such as varicose veins and swelling of the legs.

In the last trimester of pregnancy, the load on the legs becomes especially large. Through the veins of the lower extremities flows 1.5 liters more blood than before. That is why pregnant women may experience a feeling of heaviness in the legs. To avoid this, you need to pay attention to foot care. Take note of these tips:

  • As soon as the opportunity to sit down or lie down, you need to try to put your feet on the dais (for example, a small pad or roller).
  • After taking a bath or shower, it is advisable to massage your feet, it is best to do this with a brush or a special massage mitten. You need to start with the foot and gradually move to the knees and thighs. When carrying out this procedure, it is recommended to use any foot cream or gel with chamomile or peppermint extract, which are able to relieve the feeling of fatigue and cool the “burning” feet.
  • Shoes should be comfortable, non-slip and breathable. Make sure that there is no calluses and corns.

In addition, women with a predisposition to varicose veins should follow certain rules:

  • It is not recommended to be in a standing position for a long time. When lying down, it is better to put your feet on the pillow.
  • It is important to monitor the weight. If a woman has a predisposition to the development of varicose veins, then she should avoid excessive weight gain.
  • It is advisable to wear special panty hoses, wear them and take them off in bed (in a horizontal position).
  • Wear tightening, squeezing clothes during pregnancy should not be. Stockings, socks with a tight elastic band, tight shoes are best not to wear at all.

Due to the increase in weight, the load on the legs increases, edemas appear. Therefore, a relaxing foot massage is recommended for a woman in position, which promotes the outflow of fluid and relieves fatigue.

Skin care during pregnancy is necessary if you want to become not only a happy mother, but also to preserve beauty. Using the right care products, following the recommendations and tips suggested above, the woman will also keep a beautiful and toned body after the birth.
